Manufacturing Excellence: Dos and Don’ts for Textile Printers

A manufacturing unit that delivers great quality products and that, too, on time flourishes. Visiting a digital textile printer manufacturer for the very first time can be quite intimidating if you are unaware of all the technicalities. However, if one is to start a textile manufacturing business reducing technical errors and delivering valuable products is a must. Going through this blog post will give you an idea of the dos and don’ts of using and buying a digital textile printer.

Textile Printers And Printing Inks: Specifications To Look For

Textile printers can be categorized into various types based on the printing process (single-pass printers, scanning printers), ink capacity, etc. Some of these specifications make a huge impact on the final output of the product and thus must be given utmost importance.

The Storage Stability Of The Ink

The ink that is used to print on a fabric is vulnerable to degradation. Hence, the stability of the ink and the maintenance of the storage environment at appropriate levels is a must for getting a good output. Also, it is advisable to read the expiry date on the ink and buy accordingly. If you are not going to use the printer frequently, it is better to buy a cartridge of lower capacity to reduce wastage.

Ink Cartridge

The ink cartridge holds the ink in a printer, but the capacity of the cartridge is important. The higher the ink capacity the longer it will run without the need to get refilled. Most cartridges use five-liter plastic containers for storing the ink, but some of them use twenty-liter containers as well. However, the cartridge must be compatible with the ink type. Not all inks are the same; the viscosity of the ink and how it sticks to or reacts with other surfaces is critical. The ink cartridge has to be compatible with the ink type that you wish to use in the future.

If the ink sticks to the body of the cartridge or erodes the surface of the cartridge, it will affect the longevity of the printer and also the quality of the prints. Also, once an incompatible ink is used in a cartridge, it can get very difficult to get rid of the residue. So when you buy a textile printer do ask the manufacturer about the compatibility of the cartridge and the ink or dye that you wish to use.

Software And Input File On Which The Printer Runs

Digital textile printers run on software that runs on the client’s personal computer. It is best to choose a printer whose setting gets auto-updated when any changes are made to the supporting software.

Apart from that, the resolution of the input image should also be good enough so that the print quality remains great.

Conclusion

The efficiency and, eventually, the profitability of any printing business will be high if the textile printer, the ink, and the supporting software are all compatible with each other. Thus, when you visit a textile printer manufacturer, ask all the relevant questions about the ink capacity of the cartridge, the scanning rate of the printer, etc.
